Rebecca Harris-Smith
Retired Registered Nurse, Nurse Consultant, and Owner of Professional Academic Consultant Services, LLC
Rebecca Harris-Smith is the owner and nurse consultant for PAC. She is an educator that has taught on multiple levels in education to include primary and secondary education. As a nurse she has several years of experience in nursing, beginning with primary bedside care in hospital and she also worked in public and community health nursing. She later combined her educational and nursing experience which prepared her to teach in higher education, where she served as a faculty member, program chair, program director, and Dean of Nursing for multiple programs.
Rebecca’s experiences include serving as the Program Director for several Practical Nursing (PN) Programs, Faculty and Educational Coordinator for an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program, and as the Assistant Dean for an Entry Level Master (ELM) Program, and Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Prior to retiring, she served as the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health for multiple Community Colleges. Rebecca maintains active membership in
professional organizations that include education and nursing. Committed to education, Dr. Harris-Smith enjoys presenting at Local and National Conferences for professional organizations. Enthusiastic about education, Dr. Harris-Smith has published in the National Black Nurses Association Newsletter and the American Red Cross Newsletter Nursing Matters; “Past and Present.”
Rebecca identifies herself as an educator of educators. She believes her strength to be her ability to assist all faculty to identify their strengths as clinical experts and to improve upon their need to move from expert clinician to become a novice nurse educator and eventually becoming an expert nurse educator.
